Neal W. Burdette, Jr, W8BUR - June 26, 2016
LANCASTER: Neal W. Burdette, Jr. 90 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away
Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on July 21,
1925 in Newark, Ohio to the late Neal W. and Mary L. Noel Burdette, Jr.
He was a World War II US Army Air Corp. veteran receiving a Purple Heart
and a retired school teacher.
Neal was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1943, Ohio State
graduate Class of 1951 and taught at Amanda Clearcreek High School,
Millersport High School and Boys Industrial School.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association, 40 et 8, American Legion Post
11, and VFW Post 1516. He was also a member of the Lancaster-Fairfield County Amateur
Radio Club (W8BUR).
Neal is survived by his nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Jan Andrews of IN. He is
preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Jean Camp Burdette, parents, and sister, Natalie
Hoffman.
Per his request Caring Cremation@ has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL
HOME AND CREMATORY, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OH 43130. A graveside
service will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Forest Rose Cemetery with the Lancaster
Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery.
