Edward M. "Bang" Bennett Jr., KD8EEJ - July 18, 2011
Edward M. ";Bang" Bennett, Jr., age 61, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Edward M. Bennett and Juanita E. Higgins. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. He retired with 32 years of service with Ameritech / SBC Telephone Co. Ed was a member of the New Zion United Methodist Church in Baltimore. Everyone who knew Ed thought he was a most kind and pleasant man. When he was able he would lend a hand to anyone at any time. He loved walking his 4 legged buddy "Timmy" around the campground. Being a member of the Lancaster & Fairfield County Amateur Radio Club, his call sign was "KD8EEJ". He enjoyed Wednesday morning breakfast with his fellow telephone retirees. Ed was completely dedicated to his family and friends and will be lovingly remembered by many who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed's family includes his beloved wife of 41 years, Davia Kay (Holderman) Bennett; son, SFC U.S. Army, Edward M. (Shantel) Bennett III/KJ4IEU; grandson, Eddie IV; brothers, Paul Bennett and Bruce Bennett; sisters, Pam (Orville) Trailer and Mary Topping; many nephews and nieces; his 4 legged buddies, Timmy, Sophia, and Seppe; and many Lancaster Campground Friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved pets, Bear, Cosmo, and Luigi. ";Bang"; you will live in our hearts forever.
