Carl Edison Carder, 89, went to be with the Lord at 4:00 PM on January 19, 2014. He was born on March 12, 1924
in Kanawha Station, West Virginia, the son of Edison and Izola (Locker) Carder. Carl graduated from South Zanesville High School in 1942. He was married to Floreine Jenkins on February 5, 1944
and they were married for 52 years before her passing in 1996.<
Carl retired from Brockway Glass/Owens Illinois in 1983 after 30 years of service and he has been blessed with
30 years of retirement life, which included motor home traveling with his wife, fishing with family and friends,
enjoyment of baseball and the Cincinnati Reds, and since 1963, he has shared the love of his Amateur Radio hobby
with thousands of "hams" in over 200 countries around the world. He also took great pride in
participating in emergency communication drills by offering assistance through Amateur Radio.
He was a member of the Zanesville Amateur Radio Club and a lifetime member of The Lancaster and Fairfield County
Amateur Radio Club. He held amateur radio call sign WA8HFS with an amateur extra class license. Carl was a
member of the American Radio Relay League and a charter member of 10-X International Net. He was a member of the
South Zanesville United Methodist Church, and Carl supported the Red Cross, becoming a lifetime 50-pint donor.
